Stainless Steel Square Drive Flat Head Deck Screws

A 304 / 305 stainless steel flat-head deck screw with an SQ2 square recess, underhead nibs and Type 17 point. Coarse threads draw suitable deck boards toward timber joists, while the square drive offers a defined tool choice for installation.
- 304 / 305 stainless steel
- Countersunk flat head with underhead nibs
- #2 Square / SQ2 / Notched Type 17 auger point
KEY FEATURES & PERFORMANCE
Square drive.
Flush seating.
The #2 square recess distinguishes this flat-head range from Torx versions. Cutting nibs help form the head seat and the Type 17 point starts through fibres; coarse threads then engage the joist to draw the board into contact.
- 01
Corrosion-resistant 304 / 305
The stainless body supports exterior deck applications. Specify exposure and timber treatment when choosing the grade; coastal or persistently wet conditions require a separate material assessment.
- 02
A defined SQ2 drive
The source specification identifies a #2 Square / SQ2 recess. A correctly fitted square bit provides firm contact and effective torque transfer while helping reduce drive damage.
- 03
Underhead cutting nibs
Nibs beneath the flat head help create a countersunk seat in suitable boards. Agree the flush or recessed position and any required preparation for the wood or composite surface.
- 04
Type 17 entry into timber
The notched point cuts fibres to aid a quick start and reduce driving resistance. Dense boards and edge fixings may still need pilot holes.
- 05
Coarse threads for a firm joint
The thread geometry engages the joist and draws the board downward. Select the threaded length for the build-up and support, with the deck layout allowing for material movement.
- 06
A consistent surface finish
The countersunk head provides a defined seating profile across the deck. Match driver control and depth to a representative board to limit tearing or excessive penetration.

APPLICATIONS & CONNECTION PLANNING
Connections This Range Is Made For
ACQ & treated lumber
Pressure-treated timber, including ACQ-treated boards, is listed. Match the screw grade to the specified preservative and exposure; the application label alone does not establish universal compatibility.
Cedar, redwood & timber
Provide the species, board thickness and fixing positions. Review pilot-hole and countersink needs alongside the SQ2 driver and the required head position.
Wood-composite boards
Follow the composite board's fixing guidance for head shape, holes and depth. Include the timber support and any spacer to select length and usable thread engagement.
Follow the board and support requirements for the exact joint. Fixing capacity, usable engagement and preparation depend on the selected configuration.
COATING SOLUTIONS
A Finish That Fits
the Project
Head painting, passivation and specialty finishes can be reviewed as part of a custom order for this stainless steel range.
Choose the finish with the board appearance, timber treatment and exposure in mind. Any requested colour, treatment or corrosion test belongs in the agreed specification; custom finishing services do not imply that every treatment is a standard stocked option.

Product, OEM & Packaging Q&A
Product details, custom manufacturing and packaging options for your next enquiry.
Product
Which square drive is specified for this flat-head range?
The product-specific table lists #2 Square / SQ2. Confirm the ordered recess and use the matching bit; the #1 / #2 options on the trim-head range should not be assumed here.
Product
Does the flat head always finish flush without preparation?
The nibs assist seating, but the board material, fixing position and driver depth affect the result. Confirm pilot holes or countersinking where the board specification requires them.
Product
Is it suitable for every coastal or treated-wood exposure?
No blanket exposure rating is established. Provide the preservative system and site conditions so the material and complete fixing detail can be reviewed.
OEM
Can you customise the head, drive or dimensions?
Yes. OEM / ODM enquiries can include head markings, head shape, drive details, dimensions and tolerances. Supply a drawing or the applicable standard so the proposed design can be reviewed.
OEM
Can you match a head colour or special finish?
Yes. Head painting, passivation and specialty treatments can be reviewed with your colour reference and exposure requirements. The process and scope are agreed for the selected screw.
OEM
Can we check samples before full production?
Custom samples and initial inspection reports can be arranged before the production order. Agree the sample specification and review requirements during development.
Packaging
Which packaging formats can we specify?
Options include small polybags, inner boxes, outer cartons and industrial bulk packs. Tell us the quantity per pack and sales channel so the format can be agreed.
Packaging
Can the packaging carry our own brand?
Yes. Supplied logos and artwork can be used for custom box designs and printing across inner and outer packaging. The final artwork is reviewed with the packaging brief.
Packaging
Can you include barcodes, part numbers and shipping marks?
Private labels, UPC / EAN barcodes, part numbers and shipping marks can be included. Provide the required identifiers and label layout for checking with the order.
ORDER SUPPORT
Documents, Production & Delivery
Material & inspection records
Request material test reports (MTRs), mill certificates and the inspection records needed for your order. Document scope and batch traceability are agreed for the selected grade and screw configuration.
Stock & custom production
Stock availability is checked for the requested configuration. Factory-direct bulk and custom orders follow an agreed production schedule based on specification and quantity; dispatch timing is confirmed with the quotation.
Shipping & order support
FOB, CIF and DDP arrangements can be discussed for your destination. The agreed transport route includes shipment tracking, with delivery terms and logistics support set out in the order.
Standards & Material References
| Source dimensional references | ASME B18.6.3 / ASME B18.2.1 / ANSI (designation to be specified) |
|---|---|
| Source material references | ASTM F593 (Group 1: 304/305; Group 2: 316) / ASTM A240 |
Source references require a scope check: F593 covers specified bolts, hex cap screws and studs; A240 covers flat products. They are not blanket certification of this deck screw. Agree the relevant standard and edition.
