304 / 316 body · Extended Tek 5 drill point
Stainless Steel Bi-Metal #5 Drill-Point Screws

An extended #5 point is joined to a stainless steel body for metal connections with thicker steel supports. This bi-metal range combines a hardened cutting section with stainless steel material options and a choice of head and finish configurations.
- 304 / 316 stainless steel body with hardened alloy steel tip
- Extended Tek 5 point joined by friction welding
- Hex, wafer and countersunk head options listed
KEY FEATURES & PERFORMANCE
Extended point.
Steel engagement.
The extended cutting flute is the defining feature of this range. Its purpose is to work through the support before the fastening thread engages. Steel grade, thickness and the selected screw remain essential to any drilling-capacity decision.
- 01
304 or 316 body
The stainless steel head and upper body provide material choices for the exposure. 304 suits general conditions; 316 is considered for salt or chemical exposure, with the tip and coating assessed as part of the assembly.
- 02
Hardened alloy steel cutting tip
The heat-treated alloy carbon-steel tip supplies the cutting hardness used for metal drilling. It is a separate material from the stainless steel body and requires its own exposure and finish consideration.
- 03
Precision friction-welded joint
Friction welding connects the extended drill tip to the body. The resulting fastener combines the chosen head, shank and hardened point in one configuration for installation into the specified support.
- 04
Extended Tek 5 flute
The longer cutting section allows a greater drilling reach before the thread arrives at the support. Actual capacity requires the exact tip geometry, screw size, steel grade and installation conditions.
- 05
Head and sealing choices
The illustrated hex head supports socket access and torque transfer. Wafer and countersunk heads are also listed, with an optional EPDM sealing washer for suitable hex-head configurations.
- 06
Barrier finish at the interface
Ruspert and other barrier finishes are listed for mixed-metal contact. Their role is to help control corrosion at the stainless steel, hardened tip and support interface, with the coating system specified for the project.

Published ranges are not a stock matrix. Grade, size, point, head, thread and finish are agreed in the quotation. A2 / A4 are source shorthand for 304 / 316 families; the ordered grade is defined by its material specification.
APPLICATIONS & CONNECTION PLANNING
Connections & Selection Details
Steel frames & beams
Thicker frame members and steel beams are listed uses for the extended point. Identify the support grade, thickness, attached layers and required engagement before selecting the drilling configuration.
Coastal & marine construction
Exposure, contact metals and access for maintenance influence body material and coating selection. A stainless steel body does not make the hardened carbon-steel tip immune to corrosion.
Equipment mounts
Heavy equipment brackets need both drilling access and connection design data. Head bearing, tool clearance, support thickness and required loads are reviewed as part of the complete mounting detail.
Use the fixing schedule and data for the selected fastener and joint. Published applications do not establish a rated load or universal installation method.
COATING SOLUTIONS
Control the
Metal Interface
The source range lists Ruspert, silver barrier coating and zinc-plated options. The named system and its availability are reviewed with the selected head, body and drill tip.
Match the coating to the support metal, exposure and inspection requirement. A barrier coating can help manage galvanic corrosion but does not remove the need to specify contact conditions. The exact identity of any silver-coloured finish must be agreed before it becomes an order requirement.

Product, OEM & Packaging Q&A
Product selection, custom production and packing details for this screw design.
Product
Does every Tek 5 screw have the same capacity?
No. The point designation describes a design family. Capacity depends on the specific screw, tip geometry, steel grade and thickness, installation method and supporting test evidence.
Product
Which heads and washers are listed?
Hex washer, wafer and countersunk heads are listed. EPDM sealing is optional for suitable hex-head configurations; the head, washer and point combination is agreed with the quotation.
Product
Is the entire extended screw stainless steel?
The head and upper body are 304 or 316 stainless steel. The extended drill tip is hardened alloy carbon steel, friction-welded to the body. Select the finish with both materials and the support in view.
OEM
Can you customise the head, drive and dimensions?
We can review head logos, head shapes, drive details, dimensions and tolerances against your drawing or specified ASME reference. The agreed design defines the production requirement.
OEM
Can you match a colour or surface treatment?
Head colour matching, passivation and specialty finishes can be reviewed for the selected material and application. Provide the colour reference and exposure conditions with your brief.
OEM
Are samples available before production?
Custom samples and initial inspection reports can be arranged before full production. The sample quantity, inspection scope and approval criteria are agreed during development.
Packaging
Which packing formats can we choose?
Small polybags, inner boxes and industrial bulk packing are available formats. Specify the quantity per pack and handling requirements so the packing specification can be agreed.
Packaging
Can inner and outer packs carry our brand?
Yes. Inner and outer box designs, printed logos and brand artwork can be prepared from your supplied files. Artwork and pack dimensions are reviewed before production.
Packaging
Can you include our barcodes and shipping marks?
Private labels, UPC / EAN barcodes, part numbers and shipping marks can be included in the packaging brief. Supply the required data and label layout for checking.
ORDER SUPPORT
Documents, Production & Delivery
Material & inspection records
Material test reports and mill certificates can be requested for the order. Agree the required documents, inspection scope and batch traceability against the selected material before production.
Stock & custom production
Available stock and factory production follow different order routes. Stock availability is checked for the requested configuration; bulk and custom orders are scheduled to the agreed specification and quantity. Timing is established in the quotation.
International shipping
FOB, CIF and DDP arrangements can be discussed for the destination. Shipment tracking supports the agreed transport route. Route availability, DDP coverage and delivery terms are established with the order.
Standards & Material References
| Dimensional references | ASME B18.6.3 / ASME B18.2.1 / ANSI |
|---|---|
| Material / physical references | ASTM F593 (Group 1: 304/305; Group 2: 316) / ASTM A240 |
Confirm the edition, component scope and inspection documents. ANSI needs a specific reference; ASTM F593 group references do not add 305 as a sale option or certify the complete screw.
