Low-profile wafer head · Phillips drive
Stainless Steel Wafer Head Self-Drilling Screws

A broad wafer head spreads the bearing contact over thin materials while keeping a shallow profile. The Phillips recess and self-drilling point suit selected light-steel, sheet-metal and ductwork assemblies, with grade and finish selected for the exposure.
- Wide, low-profile wafer head with flat underside
- Phillips drive and full-length tapping thread
- Heat-treated 410, 304 or 316 stainless steel
KEY FEATURES & PERFORMANCE
Broad contact.
Low profile.
The wafer head creates a larger contact footprint than a narrow raised head. That geometry helps distribute clamping pressure across the attached material. Point selection, thread engagement and tightening still need to suit the support and the part being secured.
- 01
Material choices for the connection
Heat-treated 410 offers a harder option; 304 and 316 address different exposure requirements. Consider 316 for salt or chemical exposure. The chosen material, point construction and support must be assessed together.
- 02
Wide wafer-head contact
A broad, flat underside distributes clamping pressure across a thin panel or fitting. Correct support and tightening remain necessary; the head shape does not guarantee that every material will resist pull-through or distortion.
- 03
Low-profile surface finish
The shallow head reduces projection above the attached surface. Its overall diameter and height must still fit nearby flanges, laps and fittings, especially in nested or overlapping assemblies.
- 04
Phillips tool compatibility
The Phillips recess accepts a matching cross-head bit from commonly used hand or power tools. Proper bit fit and axial alignment help maintain engagement as the screw drills and seats.
- 05
Self-drilling Tek point
The cutting tip opens a hole in a suitably matched metal support before the tapping thread engages. Material, point geometry and receiving thickness determine whether direct drilling is appropriate.
- 06
Continuous thread engagement
Full-length deep tapping threads provide engagement along the shank. The receiving material and effective thread length govern the joint; a broad head does not substitute for sufficient thread engagement.

APPLICATIONS & CONNECTION PLANNING
Connections & Selection Details
Light steel & sheet metal
Use the wide head on a suitable bearing face over light-steel framing or metal panels. Select the point against the receiving section and review aluminium contact where profiles or fittings are dissimilar metals.
Ductwork & cladding
HVAC ducts and architectural cladding need appropriate head clearance at seams, laps and adjacent fittings. The thin sheet and its support determine the seating method and allowable clamping pressure.
Plastic attachments
Plastic components need their own hole preparation, bearing-area and movement detail. A metal-drilling point does not establish that a plastic layer needs no clearance hole or that it tolerates unrestricted tightening.
Use the fixing schedule and data for the selected fastener and joint. Published applications do not establish a rated load or universal installation method.

A Finish for
the Connection
Ruspert is a listed option for this product range. Head colour matching, passivation and specialty finishes can also be reviewed through the custom-order process.
Select the finish with the stainless steel grade, receiving material and environment. Include contact metals, exposure, colour and any test requirement in the specification. Availability and test documentation apply to the agreed configuration; no salt-spray duration is inferred from another product.

Product, OEM & Packaging Q&A
Product selection, custom production and packing details for this screw design.
Product
What does the wafer head change?
Its broad flat underside spreads the clamping contact while the shallow profile limits projection. Head diameter, sheet support and tightening must still suit the attached part.
Product
Does the Phillips recess use a standard bit?
It uses a Phillips cross-head driver, with the bit size matched to the actual recess. Correct fit is needed for torque transfer and controlled seating.
Product
Can this point drill directly through plastic?
The listed plastic applications do not define a universal drilling method. Specify the plastic grade, thickness and hole detail separately from the metal support and its drilling requirement.
OEM
Can you customise the head, drive and dimensions?
We can review head logos, head shapes, drive details, dimensions and tolerances against your drawing or specified ASME reference. The agreed design defines the production requirement.
OEM
Can you match a colour or surface treatment?
Head colour matching, passivation and specialty finishes can be reviewed for the selected material and application. Provide the colour reference and exposure conditions with your brief.
OEM
Are samples available before production?
Custom samples and initial inspection reports can be arranged before full production. The sample quantity, inspection scope and approval criteria are agreed during development.
Packaging
Which packing formats can we choose?
Small polybags, inner boxes and industrial bulk packing are available formats. Specify the quantity per pack and handling requirements so the packing specification can be agreed.
Packaging
Can inner and outer packs carry our brand?
Yes. Inner and outer box designs, printed logos and brand artwork can be prepared from your supplied files. Artwork and pack dimensions are reviewed before production.
Packaging
Can you include our barcodes and shipping marks?
Private labels, UPC / EAN barcodes, part numbers and shipping marks can be included in the packaging brief. Supply the required data and label layout for checking.
ORDER SUPPORT
Documents, Production & Delivery
Material & inspection records
Material test reports and mill certificates can be requested for the order. Agree the required documents, inspection scope and batch traceability against the selected material before production.
Stock & custom production
Available stock and factory production follow different order routes. Stock availability is checked for the requested configuration; bulk and custom orders are scheduled to the agreed specification and quantity. Timing is established in the quotation.
International shipping
FOB, CIF and DDP arrangements can be discussed for the destination. Shipment tracking supports the agreed transport route. Route availability, DDP coverage and delivery terms are established with the order.
Standards & Material References
| Dimensional references | ASME B18.6.3 / ASME B18.2.1 / ANSI |
|---|---|
| Material / physical references | ASTM F593 (Group 1: 304/305; Group 2: 316) / ASTM A240 |
Confirm the edition, component scope and inspection documents. ANSI needs a specific reference; ASTM F593 group references do not add 305 as a sale option or certify the complete screw.
