Stainless Steel Trim Head Square Drive Type 17 Deck Screws

Stainless steel trim-head deck screw with a square drive recess and Type 17 point
PRODUCT VIEW

A 304 / 305 stainless steel trim-head deck screw with a square recess and Type 17 point. The compact head is paired with deep timber-engaging threads for composite, PVC, capstock and treated-lumber decking, with the exact driver and fixing detail selected together.

  • 304 / 305 stainless steel
  • Low-profile trim head
  • #1 / #2 Square (SQ); size matched to the selected screw / Notched Type 17 auger point

KEY FEATURES & PERFORMANCE

Square drive.
Compact finish.

The square drive offers firm bit contact in a small trim-head profile. Below the board face, a notched Type 17 point starts the fixing and deep threads draw the board toward its timber support. Review head depth and board preparation before specifying the final configuration.

  1. 01

    Corrosion-resistant stainless body

304 / 305 stainless construction supports outdoor deck fixing. Confirm the grade against moisture, preservative treatment and the service environment for the actual connection.

  2. 02

    A discreet trim-head seat

The small head is designed to reduce the fixing footprint and displaced surface material. The board profile and controlled seating depth determine the finished appearance.

  3. 03

    Close-fitting square drive

The square recess gives the matching SQ bit positive contact for torque transfer. #1 and #2 drive options are listed; verify the required size for the selected screw.

  4. 04

Type 17 for a quick start

The notched point cuts fibres as the screw enters a suitable timber-supported board assembly. Dense timber, edges and some board profiles may still require pilot preparation.

  5. 05

    Threads that draw boards down

Deep threads engage the joist and draw the decking into contact with its support. A correctly specified fixing helps limit local board movement without promising a squeak-free deck in every condition.

  6. 06

    An alternative drive format

This is the square-drive trim-head option. Compare the head, thread and point dimensions with a Torx version when standardising tools or assessing a replacement item.

APPLICATIONS & CONNECTION PLANNING

Connections This Range Is Made For

01

Composite & capstock

Check the trim-head seat against the board manufacturer, range and cross-section. Include any surface cap and the required head depth so a sample can establish appearance.

02

PVC board systems

Supply the PVC board thickness and installation guidance, including clearance holes and movement requirements. Confirm the square driver and the intended timber-supported connection.

03

Treated timber decks

Describe the timber species, preservative treatment and exposure. Select the material, length and usable engagement together, with pilot holes and edge distances set by the fixing detail.

Follow the board and support requirements for the exact joint. Fixing capacity, usable engagement and preparation depend on the selected configuration.

COATING SOLUTIONS

A Finish That Fits
the Project

Head painting, passivation and specialty finishes can be reviewed as part of a custom order for this stainless steel range.

Choose the finish with the board appearance, timber treatment and exposure in mind. Any requested colour, treatment or corrosion test belongs in the agreed specification; custom finishing services do not imply that every treatment is a standard stocked option.

CUSTOMER QUESTIONS

Product, OEM & Packaging Q&A

Product details, custom manufacturing and packaging options for your next enquiry.

Product

Which square bit does this screw use?

The source specification lists #1 and #2 Square / SQ drive options. Confirm the recess size with the selected screw; one bit size is not established for every diameter.

Product

Is the Type 17 point for drilling a metal joist?

This range follows the Type 17 route for timber-supported decking. Select a metal-drilling design separately and review the joist material and thickness.

Product

Does a small head guarantee a hidden fixing?

It reduces the visible footprint but remains a face fixing. The board surface, head position and finish determine visibility; check the appearance on a representative board.

OEM

Can you customise the head, drive or dimensions?

Yes. OEM / ODM enquiries can include head markings, head shape, drive details, dimensions and tolerances. Supply a drawing or the applicable standard so the proposed design can be reviewed.

OEM

Can you match a head colour or special finish?

Yes. Head painting, passivation and specialty treatments can be reviewed with your colour reference and exposure requirements. The process and scope are agreed for the selected screw.

OEM

Can we check samples before full production?

Custom samples and initial inspection reports can be arranged before the production order. Agree the sample specification and review requirements during development.

Packaging

Which packaging formats can we specify?

Options include small polybags, inner boxes, outer cartons and industrial bulk packs. Tell us the quantity per pack and sales channel so the format can be agreed.

Packaging

Can the packaging carry our own brand?

Yes. Supplied logos and artwork can be used for custom box designs and printing across inner and outer packaging. The final artwork is reviewed with the packaging brief.

Packaging

Can you include barcodes, part numbers and shipping marks?

Private labels, UPC / EAN barcodes, part numbers and shipping marks can be included. Provide the required identifiers and label layout for checking with the order.

ORDER SUPPORT

Documents, Production & Delivery

Material & inspection records

Request material test reports (MTRs), mill certificates and the inspection records needed for your order. Document scope and batch traceability are agreed for the selected grade and screw configuration.

Stock & custom production

Stock availability is checked for the requested configuration. Factory-direct bulk and custom orders follow an agreed production schedule based on specification and quantity; dispatch timing is confirmed with the quotation.

Shipping & order support

FOB, CIF and DDP arrangements can be discussed for your destination. The agreed transport route includes shipment tracking, with delivery terms and logistics support set out in the order.

Standards & Material References

Standards & Material References
Source dimensional referencesASME B18.6.3 / ASME B18.2.1 / ANSI (designation to be specified)
Source material referencesASTM F593 (Group 1: 304/305; Group 2: 316) / ASTM A240

Source references require a scope check: F593 covers specified bolts, hex cap screws and studs; A240 covers flat products. They are not blanket certification of this deck screw. Agree the relevant standard and edition.
