Stainless Steel Serrated Head Type 17 Deck Screws

A 304 / 305 stainless steel deck screw with cutting serrations beneath its countersunk head. T20 / T25 Torx drive, a Type 17 point and coarse threads support board entry and timber engagement in treated-lumber, cedar, redwood and composite deck connections.
- 304 / 305 stainless steel
- Countersunk serrated head with self-countersinking nibs
- T20 / T25 Torx / Notched Type 17 auger point
KEY FEATURES & PERFORMANCE
Cutting nibs.
A clean seat.
The defining serrations are beneath the head, where they cut the seating recess. The Type 17 point addresses entry into the board and the coarse thread draws the board toward the timber support. Review the head detail separately from any serrated-thread design.
- 01
Stainless material for exposure
304 / 305 stainless steel provides corrosion resistance for exterior fixing. The required grade depends on timber treatment and environment; a material name alone does not establish a service life.
- 02
Serrations beneath the head
Cutting features on the underside help form a countersunk recess in suitable boards. Check the head drawing and sample seat when surface finish is part of the purchasing requirement.
- 03
Type 17 cutting action
The notched point cuts fibres to help the screw start and reduce resistance during entry. Agree pilot-hole preparation for dense timber, board edges and the selected deck material.
- 04
Firm Torx engagement
T20 / T25 drive options allow positive bit contact for torque transfer. The matching driver and controlled final depth help preserve the recess and head seat.
- 05
Coarse threads for clamping
Deep threads grip the timber joist to draw the board into contact. Effective engagement supports resistance to loosening; it does not remove the need for a suitable deck layout and moisture allowance.
- 06
Head detail kept distinct
Head serration and thread serration are different features. This range identifies cutting geometry under the head, which should be compared explicitly when sourcing an alternative design.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

|---|---|
| Head form | Countersunk serrated head with self-countersinking nibs |
| Drive | T20 / T25 Torx |
| Point | Notched Type 17 auger point |
| Listed diameters | #8, #9 and #10 |
| Length | Confirm required length and unit with the enquiry |
| Thread detail | Deep coarse threads; serration is specified at the head |
| Connection focus | Treated timber, cedar, redwood and composite decking on timber |
| Finish options | Head painting, passivation or specialty finish by custom enquiry |

Diameters and drive options do not form a complete stock matrix. Length and the final combination of grade, head, point, thread and finish are confirmed with the quotation.
APPLICATIONS & CONNECTION PLANNING
Connections This Range Is Made For
Treated deck boards
The range lists pressure-treated and ACQ-treated timber applications. Describe the treatment system and exposure so grade, preparation and fixing spacing can be checked for the selected assembly.
Cedar & redwood decks
Confirm the wood species, thickness and required head position. The serrated underside assists seating; test the appearance and use the pilot-hole method required for the timber and fixing location.
Timber & composite boards
For general timber or composite decking, include the board profile and timber support detail. The countersunk head must suit the surface and any cap layer, with length selected for usable engagement.
Follow the board and support requirements for the exact joint. Fixing capacity, usable engagement and preparation depend on the selected configuration.
COATING SOLUTIONS
A Finish That Fits
the Project
Head painting, passivation and specialty finishes can be reviewed as part of a custom order for this stainless steel range.
Choose the finish with the board appearance, timber treatment and exposure in mind. Any requested colour, treatment or corrosion test belongs in the agreed specification; custom finishing services do not imply that every treatment is a standard stocked option.

Product, OEM & Packaging Q&A
Product details, custom manufacturing and packaging options for your next enquiry.
Product
Is this a serrated-thread deck screw?
This range identifies serration beneath the head. The coarse thread is a separate feature; compare both areas on the drawing rather than treating head and thread serration as equivalent.
Product
Can the serrated head always replace countersinking?
The cutting underside helps form a recess in suitable materials. Dense timber, composite profiles and the required head position can still call for prepared holes or countersinks.
Product
Does stainless steel establish a decades-long service life?
No fixed life is specified here. Grade, timber treatment, moisture, exposure and the complete connection affect durability; any project performance requirement needs appropriate evidence.
OEM
Can you customise the head, drive or dimensions?
Yes. OEM / ODM enquiries can include head markings, head shape, drive details, dimensions and tolerances. Supply a drawing or the applicable standard so the proposed design can be reviewed.
OEM
Can you match a head colour or special finish?
Yes. Head painting, passivation and specialty treatments can be reviewed with your colour reference and exposure requirements. The process and scope are agreed for the selected screw.
OEM
Can we check samples before full production?
Custom samples and initial inspection reports can be arranged before the production order. Agree the sample specification and review requirements during development.
Packaging
Which packaging formats can we specify?
Options include small polybags, inner boxes, outer cartons and industrial bulk packs. Tell us the quantity per pack and sales channel so the format can be agreed.
Packaging
Can the packaging carry our own brand?
Yes. Supplied logos and artwork can be used for custom box designs and printing across inner and outer packaging. The final artwork is reviewed with the packaging brief.
Packaging
Can you include barcodes, part numbers and shipping marks?
Private labels, UPC / EAN barcodes, part numbers and shipping marks can be included. Provide the required identifiers and label layout for checking with the order.
ORDER SUPPORT
Documents, Production & Delivery
Material & inspection records
Request material test reports (MTRs), mill certificates and the inspection records needed for your order. Document scope and batch traceability are agreed for the selected grade and screw configuration.
Stock & custom production
Stock availability is checked for the requested configuration. Factory-direct bulk and custom orders follow an agreed production schedule based on specification and quantity; dispatch timing is confirmed with the quotation.
Shipping & order support
FOB, CIF and DDP arrangements can be discussed for your destination. The agreed transport route includes shipment tracking, with delivery terms and logistics support set out in the order.
Standards & Material References
| Source dimensional references | ASME B18.6.3 / ASME B18.2.1 / ANSI (designation to be specified) |
|---|---|
| Source material references | ASTM F593 (Group 1: 304/305; Group 2: 316) / ASTM A240 |
Source references require a scope check: F593 covers specified bolts, hex cap screws and studs; A240 covers flat products. They are not blanket certification of this deck screw. Agree the relevant standard and edition.
