Ruspert coating option · Roofing sheets to timber
Stainless Steel #10 Hex Head Wood Roofing Screws

A #10 wood roofing screw combines a hex flange head, a wood-entry point and a bonded EPDM washer. Ruspert surface treatment adds a protective barrier for exposed roofing, siding and trim fixed to timber supports.
- #10 nominal diameter: approximately 4.8 mm
- 410, 304 or 316 stainless steel in the product range
- Type-17 or Gimlet point; pre-assembled EPDM washer
KEY FEATURES & PERFORMANCE
Roofing protection.
Timber engagement.
The wood point and coarse thread secure the fixing into timber, while the hex head and bonded washer control the sheet contact. Stainless steel grade, Ruspert finish and the surrounding metals are selected together for the exposure and wood treatment.
- 01
Stainless steel choices
Heat-treated 410 provides a harder material option. 304 suits general exposure; 316 is a candidate for salt-exposed or chemically demanding locations. Point construction and exposure requirements remain configuration-specific.
- 02
Three-layer Ruspert barrier
A zinc layer, conversion film and ceramic topcoat form the listed Ruspert system. Together they support corrosion protection and finish adhesion; performance depends on the complete coating specification.
- 03
Wood-entry point options
The Type-17 cut point includes a chip-clearing flute; the sharp Gimlet point provides initial positioning and entry. Timber species, edge distance and joint detail determine whether a pilot hole is needed.
- 04
Bonded EPDM weather seal
A pre-assembled stainless steel backing washer carries vulcanized EPDM. Correct seating and controlled compression help resist rain and moisture at the roofing sheet.
- 05
External hex control
A matching 1/4 or 5/16 in socket engages the hex head. Positive tool access helps control tightening and washer compression without treating extra torque as proof of a sound seal.
- 06
Thread engagement in timber
The wood thread transfers fastening into the timber support. Select length for the complete sheet build-up and required penetration; holding values must come from the selected fastener and connection.

APPLICATIONS & CONNECTION PLANNING
Connections & Selection Details
Roof sheets to timber
Corrugated or profiled metal roofing can be fixed to timber battens, purlins or framing. Sheet profile, laps and washer seating determine the head contact, while timber engagement determines the required screw length.
Siding & architectural trim
Wall siding and trim bring different contact metals and edge conditions. Specify the sheet material, timber support, finish colour and exposed fixing position, with allowance for movement in the cladding system.
Treated & exposed timber
For ACQ- or CCA-treated wood, identify the treatment and moisture exposure. Coastal and industrial siding also require a material and coating review; treatment compatibility is assessed for the selected combination.
Use the fixing schedule and data for the selected fastener and joint. Published applications do not establish a rated load or universal installation method.

Exposed Connections
The listed finish combines a zinc layer, conversion film and ceramic topcoat. Silver, grey, red, brown and black are listed colour choices; agree the final colour and coating specification with the order.
The barrier finish helps manage contact between stainless steel, roofing metals and treated timber. Include ACQ / CCA treatment and environmental exposure in the brief. Salt-spray requirements need an agreed coating system, exposure period, acceptance criteria and corresponding report.

Product, OEM & Packaging Q&A
Product selection, custom production and packing details for this screw design.
Product
How do Type-17 and Gimlet points differ?
Type-17 uses a cut and flute to aid timber entry and chip clearance; a Gimlet point provides a sharp start. The point is selected with the wood species, sheet build-up and pilot-hole requirement.
Product
Are the series sizes all available as this #10 screw?
No complete stock matrix is implied by the published range. This page identifies the #10 design; other gauges and each length, material, point and washer combination are checked in the quotation.
Product
How is the Ruspert test requirement specified?
Define the chosen coating system, exposure period and acceptance criteria, then request the corresponding test documentation. ASTM B117 describes salt-spray testing; a test duration is not an outdoor service-life prediction.
OEM
Can you customise the head, drive and dimensions?
We can review head logos, head shapes, drive details, dimensions and tolerances against your drawing or specified ASME reference. The agreed design defines the production requirement.
OEM
Can you match a colour or surface treatment?
Head colour matching, passivation and specialty finishes can be reviewed for the selected material and application. Provide the colour reference and exposure conditions with your brief.
OEM
Are samples available before production?
Custom samples and initial inspection reports can be arranged before full production. The sample quantity, inspection scope and approval criteria are agreed during development.
Packaging
Which packing formats can we choose?
Small polybags, inner boxes and industrial bulk packing are available formats. Specify the quantity per pack and handling requirements so the packing specification can be agreed.
Packaging
Can inner and outer packs carry our brand?
Yes. Inner and outer box designs, printed logos and brand artwork can be prepared from your supplied files. Artwork and pack dimensions are reviewed before production.
Packaging
Can you include our barcodes and shipping marks?
Private labels, UPC / EAN barcodes, part numbers and shipping marks can be included in the packaging brief. Supply the required data and label layout for checking.
ORDER SUPPORT
Documents, Production & Delivery
Material & inspection records
Material test reports and mill certificates can be requested for the order. Agree the required documents, inspection scope and batch traceability against the selected material before production.
Stock & custom production
Available stock and factory production follow different order routes. Stock availability is checked for the requested configuration; bulk and custom orders are scheduled to the agreed specification and quantity. Timing is established in the quotation.
International shipping
FOB, CIF and DDP arrangements can be discussed for the destination. Shipment tracking supports the agreed transport route. Route availability, DDP coverage and delivery terms are established with the order.
Standards & Material References
| Dimensional references | ASME B18.6.3 / ASME B18.2.1 / ANSI |
|---|---|
| Material / physical references | ASTM F593 (Group 1: 304/305; Group 2: 316) / ASTM A240 |
Confirm the edition, component scope and inspection documents. ANSI needs a specific reference; ASTM F593 group references do not add 305 as a sale option or certify the complete screw.
