304 / 305 / 316 · Composite / Reverse upper thread
Stainless Steel Composite Deck Screws

A stainless steel composite-deck screw combining an undercut trim head and reverse upper threads to control displaced board fibres. T20 / T25 Torx drive, a Type 17 point and colour-matched head options complete the design for timber-supported composite, PVC and capstock boards.
- 304 / 305 / 316 stainless steel
- Undercut trim head; colour-matched painted options
- T20 / T25 Torx / Notched Type 17 auger point
KEY FEATURES & PERFORMANCE
Reverse threads.
A clean board face.
The undercut head and reverse upper threads work at the surface to press fibres toward the hole and reduce mushrooming. The Type 17 point starts the fixing below, while the selected stainless grade and head colour are matched to the deck specification.
- 01
Three stainless grade choices
The product-specific table lists 304, 305 and 316. Choose the grade for the timber treatment and exposure; consider 316 for salt-exposed conditions without treating any grade as universally corrosion-proof.
- 02
Reverse threads control fibres
Reverse upper threads work with the undercut head to press displaced composite fibres back toward the hole. This is designed to reduce raised material around the fixing on compatible boards.
- 03
A compact undercut head
The trim head limits the visible fixing area while its underside supports surface seating. Check the board cap, head depth and prepared hole on a sample of the actual decking.
- 04
Type 17 for a quick start
The notched point cuts fibres to help the screw enter composite decking and timber support. Pilot preparation still follows the board profile, fixing position and installation guidance.
- 05
Torx driving control
T20 / T25 star recess options give the matching bit positive torque contact. Keep the drive aligned and stop at the agreed depth to help protect both head and board.
- 06
Heads coordinated to the board
Painted-head examples include Teak, Charcoal, Cedar, Sand and White. Select the colour against a board reference or sample; approve the appearance for the ordered screw.

APPLICATIONS & CONNECTION PLANNING
Connections This Range Is Made For
Composite decking
Specify the board manufacturer and section, including solid or hollow construction. The reverse upper thread and undercut head should be reviewed at the actual surface with the required fixing pattern.
PVC & capstock
Provide the PVC or capped-board profile and installation requirements. Check head depth, clearance holes and surface appearance so the fibre-control design suits the selected material.
Treated-lumber assemblies
Include timber treatment, support thickness and environmental exposure. Select the stainless grade and usable engagement together, with Type 17 preparation appropriate to the board and joist.
Follow the board and support requirements for the exact joint. Fixing capacity, usable engagement and preparation depend on the selected configuration.
COATING SOLUTIONS
Colour That Fits
Your Composite Board
Painted-head examples include Teak, Charcoal, Cedar, Sand and White. Match the finish to a board reference or approved sample.
Coordinate the painted head with the chosen 304, 305 or 316 body and site conditions. Colour approval covers appearance; corrosion requirements and test criteria need their own specification. Additional surface treatments can be reviewed with the custom order.

Product, OEM & Packaging Q&A
Product details, custom manufacturing and packaging options for your next enquiry.
Product
How does the reverse upper thread help the surface?
It works with the undercut head to press displaced composite fibres back toward the hole, helping reduce mushrooming. The result still depends on board compatibility, preparation and seating depth.
Product
Which head colours can we request?
Listed examples are Teak, Charcoal, Cedar, Sand and White. Send the board colour reference or sample so the shade, coating and selected screw can be reviewed together.
Product
Is this the drill-point model for metal joists?
This product uses a Type 17 point for timber-supported selection. A metal joist needs a separate drill-point design and a review of the support material and thickness.
OEM
Can you customise the head, drive or dimensions?
Yes. OEM / ODM enquiries can include head markings, head shape, drive details, dimensions and tolerances. Supply a drawing or the applicable standard so the proposed design can be reviewed.
OEM
Can you match a head colour or special finish?
Yes. Head painting, passivation and specialty treatments can be reviewed with your colour reference and exposure requirements. The process and scope are agreed for the selected screw.
OEM
Can we check samples before full production?
Custom samples and initial inspection reports can be arranged before the production order. Agree the sample specification and review requirements during development.
Packaging
Which packaging formats can we specify?
Options include small polybags, inner boxes, outer cartons and industrial bulk packs. Tell us the quantity per pack and sales channel so the format can be agreed.
Packaging
Can the packaging carry our own brand?
Yes. Supplied logos and artwork can be used for custom box designs and printing across inner and outer packaging. The final artwork is reviewed with the packaging brief.
Packaging
Can you include barcodes, part numbers and shipping marks?
Private labels, UPC / EAN barcodes, part numbers and shipping marks can be included. Provide the required identifiers and label layout for checking with the order.
ORDER SUPPORT
Documents, Production & Delivery
Material & inspection records
Request material test reports (MTRs), mill certificates and the inspection records needed for your order. Document scope and batch traceability are agreed for the selected grade and screw configuration.
Stock & custom production
Stock availability is checked for the requested configuration. Factory-direct bulk and custom orders follow an agreed production schedule based on specification and quantity; dispatch timing is confirmed with the quotation.
Shipping & order support
FOB, CIF and DDP arrangements can be discussed for your destination. The agreed transport route includes shipment tracking, with delivery terms and logistics support set out in the order.
Standards & Material References
| Source dimensional references | ASME B18.6.3 / ASME B18.2.1 / ANSI (designation to be specified) |
|---|---|
| Source material references | ASTM F593 (Group 1: 304/305; Group 2: 316) / ASTM A240 |
Source references require a scope check: F593 covers specified bolts, hex cap screws and studs; A240 covers flat products. They are not blanket certification of this deck screw. Agree the relevant standard and edition.
